The Pause showed up at 100% high energy, loud, and left it all on the stage- what more does anyone want from a live show? My favorite songs were the ones that leaned into the ‘heavy’ side of their heavy garage rock self-description. Colin and Jordan (see photo front) were very well supported by August (bass) and Brock (drums) who laid down a high-speed and tight musical conversation. Similar to kombucha or natural wine, The Pause still has a fresh and fermenting aesthetic, and it was a lot of fun to see a band in this phase. They are comparatively young with regard to other shows I have been going to and so is their current fan base. The Pause takes inspiration from Queens of the Stone Age, the Beatles, the Strokes, The Lemon Twigs, and the Raconteurs.
