Since their birth from a Craigslist ad early this year, The Pause have been hot on the New Orleans rock scene. Members August Dixon (bass), Colin James (guitar, vocals), Brock Orrett (drums), and Jordan Palka (guitar, vocals) found instant chemistry over their shared influences—Queens of the Stone Age, Nirvana, The White Stripes, and The Beatles—and got to work creating original garage rock bangers. Gaining momentum with underground shows and an iconic bathtub interview with Julie Elody, The Pause needed to take the next steps to share their message and recorded four songs at Blue Velvet Studios which will become their debut release.

The Pause’s debut EP, Our Best One Yet, is exactly that . . . 4 raw tracks that go back to the basics of rock and roll:
- Basement Suite - A heavy hitting, solo filled, satirical take on Milton’s experience in the 1999 film Office Space and the often uncaring corporate world we still live in 25 years after the film’s release.
- Different View - Sneak peek attached! Playful harmonies and Beatles-reminiscent vocals contrast with the heart-wrenching feeling of being emotionally abandoned by a lover.
- The Mower - The story of a blade of grass who is selectively cultivated and cut down by the menacing Mower--a parallel to any situation where “The Man” keeps you doing just well enough to meet their needs, but never allows you to truly excel (i.e. the corporate ladder).
- Champagne and Red Wine - A tragic and heartfelt song of the love and heartbreak shared by two people who are excellent on their own, but were never meant to mix.
Our Best One Yet will be released on all major streaming platforms on August 22nd and will be celebrated with a hot, fast, and definitely not loud show at the Goat on the same day.
We would love to give you an opportunity to meet The Pause, discuss transforming a Craigslist ad and a dream into one of the hottest bands in the New Orleans’ rock scene, and give you an exclusive first listen to Our Best One Yet prior to the official EP release on August 22.
