Mars and Other Planets, Ghost Orchids, and The Pause: Siberia 6/25/24

Article by Mikal Giancola, Alt Scene NOLA. Full article available here.

The Pause had a solid set. Because I reviewed them last week, I was simply going to link to my previous article and call it quits, but I can’t do that. However, for a summary of the band and its influences, please see the previous article. One thing that constantly stands out in Siberia is how great they are running their soundboard, and this makes a big difference for the band and audience aline- and that is why I chose to write about The Pause again. For this set, The Pauses’ slower, if you will, songs sounded great, the vocals were clear, and the sound across all tracks was balanced. Comparatively, the previous week was appropriately experimental for the setting, a theater. In contrast, the Siberia show was four musicians playing their favorite stage in the city with their sound optimized. The set was fast and well-coordinated, and the drummer’s chops allowed him to be heard when he wanted and support other parts of the songs when needed. The band played as a whole, not four instruments and two vocalists, and their sound reflected that. Their music is loud, fast, and fun if you like heavy-garage style music. The Pause will be playing Siberia again on July 12- go see them!
